The Sasanian Empire was one of the major world powers, ruling between 224-651 AD with vast territories which extended across modern day Iran and the Near East.
cornelian intaglio ring. Set centrally with a circular cornelian intaglio in a closed back four claw setting, depicting a finely engraved hunting scene with a lion leaping over its prey, flanked by scrolling carved highlights to the bezel which continue down the shaped shoulders, the D-shape shank terminating in further carved scrolled detailing. Tested yellow gold, approximately 3.3g in weight, circa 224-651 AD.
