the palm trees represented the victory for the Roman people, reflected in the legend of the founding of Rome. This legend is told by Ovid (43 BC -17 AD) mentions that Romulus and Remus, children of the virgin Rhea and of the god Mars, appear in a dream to their mother, shortly before giving birth, in the form of two date palms that rose towards the sky expressing a good omen of the future greatness of Rome. For Rome, Jupiter was his main deity, which was represented in his temple with a purple robe with golden palms (tunica palmata), a toga with stars (toga picta) and a ray in his right hand.
Again, like Apollo, palm trees continue to accompany the great gods of Latin mythology.
